Three Cases of Unilateral Bipartite Patella

Abstract
|
|
|
The ossification center of the patella is usually one and makes its appearance between the 3rd and 5th years.
Occasionally more than one centers are present and fail to fuse and remain as discrete components of the composite bone as a bipartite, a tripartite or a multipartite patella.
Since described first by Buttner and Haenisch in 1925, many cases have been reported, most of which were bilateral.
Three cases of unilateral bipartite patella are reported here.
